Theron became an American citizen in 2007, while retaining her South African citizenship. Film critic Roger Ebert called it “one of the greatest performances in the history of the cinema”. She also received Golden Globe and Emmy nominations for her role of Britt Ekland in the 2004 HBO film The Life and Death of Peter Sellers. On 30 September, Theron received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. in the same year, she starred in the financially unsuccessful science fiction thriller Æon Flux. From 1997 to 2001, she dated Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins. Theron is involved in women’s rights organisations, and has marched in pro-choice rallies.
